To launch the 2019 football season, Rebel approached us with the following challenge: Trade partners Nike, Adidas, ASICS, Puma and X-Blades had all agreed to provide one of their sponsored athletes to feature in Rebel's campaign - the catch, we would only have access to each player for 2 hours, in which time we would need to film a bespoke 15 second brand TVC, as well as additional footage to be intercut with the other athletes to form both a 60 second and 30 second multi-brand edit, plus interview each player for a series of social videos. On top of this, they hadn't come up with a concept yet for the campaign, just that they wanted it to somehow tie in with the current strategy of 'Start Right'. Working within these restrictions, we came up with the idea of focusing on each player lining up just before kicking for goal. As they focused on what was ahead of them, they would be transported to a memory of their junior selves. The only way to achieve this, within the time constraints, would be to film the athletes against green screen in studio. Fin Design had created digital stadiums for us in the past, and we again partnered with them to design, build and composite our athletes into unique stadium environments.
