Lucas Bradley
Writer, Director & Editor
Lucas Bradley is an accomplished writer, director, and editor with a career spanning film, television, and commercials. Born into a family of storytellers — his father an AFI Award-winning drama writer, his mother an award-winning TV writer and script editor — Lucas grew up immersed in the craft of storytelling. From an early age he developed a deep appreciation for story structure and the discipline of writing, which remains the foundation of his creative work.
Lucas began his career creating behind-the-scenes features for the Australian Idol DVD series, and in 2007 wrote and directed Now on Planet 3, Australia’s first made-for-mobile series. Since then, he has established himself as both a versatile director and a highly sought-after editor, working across commercials, television, and branded content.
He first met collaborator Myles Conti in 1999 while working as a projectionist at Hoyts Fox Studios in Sydney. Their early short films led to festival screenings and industry opportunities before Lucas joined Conti Bros Films in 2012. Since then, the pair have written together extensively, building a slate of bold, distinctive thrillers. Their short film Social Distance won at the 2020 My Rode Reel festival, and an early draft of their feature Violent Things (then titled The Host) received a rare score of 8 on The Black List, which saw the script trending and led to significant international attention.
With Myles, Lucas has co-written the upcoming thriller Violent Things (in advanced development with Icon Films as ANZ distributor and 13 Films handling international sales, with production in the UK expected in the near term), the one-take survival thriller White Ant, and the neo-western Off Grid, set in the Canadian wilderness.
As a filmmaker, Lucas combines the precision of an editor with the creativity of a writer-director. His work is marked by strong structure, sharp characterisation, and a muscular approach to genre storytelling.
